Atlas Copco has been committed to driving development and delivering breakthrough innovations to customers around the world in countless industries for 150 years. The company has an additional long-standing commitment to investing in resources that improve the lives of people and families.

This was illuminated with the recent announcement that it has teamed up with The Manufacturing Institute, the US workforce development and education partner of the National Association of Manufacturers.

The Atlas Copco Group has more than 6,000 employees across its 100-plus locations in the United States. It is now a silver sponsor of the National Association of Manufacturers’ Heroes MAKE America initiative, an investment that will support the growth and expansion of the wider Heroes program.

Heroes MAKE America is a program specifically dedicated to promoting manufacturing careers in the United States, building connections between the military and veteran communities and the manufacturing industry, and providing exposure to a reliable stream of skilled military talent.

Nearly 200,000 service members exit the military every year, and there are an additional 2.9 million under-employed veterans with the skills and experience that are uniquely aligned for manufacturing careers. Modern manufacturing careers are great opportunities for veterans to find their next calling and to join a new mission.

The important core elements derived from military training, such as teamwork, commitment to mission, communication, and critical thinking skills, are all transferable to the manufacturing sector.

Since launching in 2018, Heroes MAKE America has issued more than 5,100 industry-recognized certifications and achieved a 90% placement rate among graduates in more than 350 companies in 47 states. The program has introduced more than 12 million individuals from the greater military community to information about manufacturing careers through in-person events, social media, newsletters, and industry-related events.

Similarly, Heroes Connect: Military to Manufacturing are virtual events that connect the military community with companies who are actively hiring now. Events like these broaden the education of the manufacturing and supply chain industries to transitioning members of the military community. In 2023, the Atlas Copco Group is celebrating its 150th anniversary.
