Your Role

Mission:

Power and Light (PAL) is a division within Atlas Copco’s Power Technique business area. It develops, manufactures and markets light towers and generators as well as accessories and used equipment.  It is active worldwide.  Products are offered under several brands to a wide range of industries including construction, mining, oil & gas, and rental. 

In this role you will be responsible to support PTNA Applications Manager and VP/BLM – Power and Light in developing the business for Energy Storage Systems, Generators and Light towers for the North America territory, including the United States and Canada for the Power and Light Division.

The energy transition towards sustainable solutions that reduces operational cost and greenhouse gas emissions offers a strong potential for short- and near-term growth in this region for our division and our hybrid solutions.

As application support engineer energy storage systems (ESS) and hybrid energy products, your mission is to ensure the highest level of technical support and customer satisfaction by providing expert training, application consulting, troubleshooting, system optimization, and comprehensive customer support for our energy storage and hybrid energy solutions. Leveraging a deep understanding of electrical engineering principles and renewable energy technologies, this role aims to enhance system performance, reliability, and efficiency, while actively contributing to product development through feedback from field experiences. This position is pivotal in empowering our clients to achieve their energy goals, driving the adoption of sustainable energy storage solutions, and fostering long-term partnerships through excellence in innovation and service.

We see potential for synergy in sales to our existing customers, rental accounts as well as dealers by offering a more complete product offer to them.  In the dedicated channels, there will be lots of generator power specialists.  Therefore, you will work in the areas of product support, marketing operations, and marketing logistics to support sales to these customers. 

You will report to the Applications Manager – Power and Light in our US Customer Center.  You will collaborate with customer center support staff in logistics, training, material handling, marketing and communications, etc. 

Roles and Responsibilities:

Product and Customer Support
•    Support customers with the correct operational commissioning of ESS of all sizes and configurations. You will work closely with our 6 reginal sales managers (RSM), 2 key accounts, technical support (PTS), and product development teams globally.
•    Be the go-to person within the local engineering team to answer questions from the Customer Centers and Marketing about the technical performance expectations of the equipment.
•    Portfolio and competition mapping
•    Product comparisons and fit against competitive products via continuous analysis and the development of fact sheets
•    Conduct detailed analyses of system performance data to identify and resolve issues, improve system efficiency, and reduce downtime.
•    Aid in the troubleshooting of new product development and production machines and Provide support as required.
•    The position requires the employee to be able to effectively communicate with others outside the company such as suppliers and vendors.

Applications and training Support
•    Provide competency development and training to customer, technical service and key customers regarding hybrid solutions, standalone applications using a train the trainer philosophy.
•    Be the go-to person and act as a liaison with the internal engineering and technical service teams regarding issues related to batteries, inverters, connectivity, controllers’ software and technical performance expectations of the equipment.
•    Conduct training sessions and demonstration for customers and internal staff on ESS applications and maintenance.

Product development

•    Work closely with the engineering and product development teams to provide feedback and insights from customers to guide future product and software enhancements.
•    Develop and maintain technical documentation, including troubleshooting guides, FAQs, and best practice manuals.
•    Evaluate current production products for cost reduction opportunities.
•    Aid in the troubleshooting of new product development and production machines and Provide manufacturing/production support as required.

 Excellence in Marketing Operations
•    Maintain the material master
•    Maintain the customer master
•    Maintain the discount structure
•    Keep the Showpad checklist and toolbox updated

Marketing Logistics
•    Prepare pipeline and stock planning
•    Prepare level planning and forecasting
•    Provide reporting and communication to the Regions on lead time and orders on hand (OOH) Perform other duties as assigned.

 

 
To succeed, you will need  

Experience:

This is considered an entry-level position
Relevant internship or work experience is a plus. 

Education:

The successful candidate should have electrical engineering degree or similar through a combination of education and experience. 

Skills:

•    Excellent business analysis, planning and organizing skills.
•    Knowledge of the Power and Light product range is a plus.
•    Hands on attitude 
•    Excellent written and oral communication skills.
•    Strong customer service orientation and problem-solving skills.
•    Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
•    Proficiency in data analysis and the use of diagnostic tools for troubleshooting and system optimization.
•    Computer literate (SAP, C4C, Microsoft Office, etc.) and strong knowledge of Excel and PowerPoint would be an asset.
•    Positive attitude and willing to troubleshoot and problem solve any technical or commercial related product issues
•    Able to work unsupervised, independently and as part of a team.
•    Self-motivated and able to work under time constraints.

Travel:

Minimal travel within Canada and the United States is expected (15-20% of the time)

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position has no supervisory responsibility.
