2 分(読了目安時間) 7月 22, 2021

This article will provide you best practice tips for using grinders.

We understand the importance of a safe work environment, and how training is the first step to a safe operation of any machine. Grinding is a job that has to be taken seriously as it might pose as a threat to our health. The equipment used at work must be handled properly and the grinding situation itself has to be treated with respect. The forces involved can be a source of danger if safety aspects are overlooked. The operator should always be extra careful. Here is the checklist that an operator should consider before starting to work:

✔ Check the free speed of the tool, so that it cannot rotate faster than the maximum rpm stated on the wheel

✔ Use a wheel guard when grinding with a grinding wheel Use the right dimension of grinding wheel, so that the grinding wheel’s rotational speed (in rpm) is not exceeded

✔ Check that the grinding wheel isn’t cracked or otherwise damaged

✔ Check that the right flanges are used, they’re attached properly, and are smooth with no trace of burr or flash

✔ Use personal protective clothing or other safety equipment provided like goggles, ear protectors, gloves, helmets, masks, etc.

✔ Test run in a safe enclosed area, e.g., beneath the workbench

✔ Ensure tool maintenance is performed regularly

✔ Always consult national and international standards and regulations on safety Always remember prevention is better than cure. Taking careful preventive measures can help you avert accidents at work. Read more about grinding and safety measures here.
