Energy recovery unit ER 90-900

For water-cooled oil-free air compressors

Turn your water-cooled, oil-free air compressor into an energy source for hot water with ER, our Energy Recovery control unit. Up to 900kW

Energy recovery unit ER 650

FAQ about our energy recovery unit ER

What is the heat recovery unit working principle?

The recovery mechanism of the ER is based on a closed-loop water circuit, which connects the compressor and the ER unit. The ER unit consists of a pump, a heat exchanger, and a controller.

The pump circulates the water through the circuit.

How does the ER unit differ from simply inserting heat exchanger plates?

The heat exchangers transfer the heat from hot cooling water to the application of the customer

The controller regulates the flow and the temperature of the water, and adjusts the settings according to the customer's needs and preferences. The ER unit is different from simply inserting heat exchanger plates, because it offers a complete and customized solution, with a higher efficiency and reliability. The ER unit also has a smart and user-friendly interface, which allows the user to monitor and control the system remotely.

What is the optimal renewal cycle for energy recovery equipment, considering the maintenance costs that increase over time?

The maintenance costs for the energy recovery equipment do not increase over time, as long as the correct maintenance plan is followed. The ER unit has a simple and robust design, with only a few parts that require regular maintenance, such as the pump and the valves. The ER unit has a long service life, and we expect it to last for more than 20 years with proper care and operation.

Are there heat recovery units in air-cooled machines?

No, there are no heat recovery units in air-cooled machines at this moment.
However, we are working on developing a solution that will enable heat recovery in air-cooled machines shortly.

Can we implement ER on compressors that are not manufactured by us?

Yes, the ER (energy recovery) unit can be adopted for any compressor, regardless of the brand or model. The ER unit is a standalone device that can be installed in the water circuit of the compressor. The ER unit captures the heat generated by the compressor and transfers it to the water, which can then be used for various purposes, such as heating, cooling, or process water.

The electricity consumption of the compressor will be the same, we are going to make use of the waste heat that was created during the compression phase of the air into compressed air.  94% of the electricity input value is converted into waste heat that we can recover with the ER unit.

Description

The ER control unit is to be installed between the compressor and your cooling- and heating circuits.
Hot water up to 90° C can be recovered from the compressed air system. This water can be used for sanitary purposes and heating but is particularly suitable for process-heating applications.

The modular design guarantees seamless integration in a wide variety of applications, even in the harshest of operating conditions.

  • food and beverage
dairy processes: pasteurization, scalding, cleaning and sterilizing cooking vessels, drying products
  • chemicals
thermal steam crackers, re-boilers and stripping, heat tracing, humidity control
  • pharmaceuticals
