In conventionele met afvalwater geactiveerde slibinstallaties neemt het blowersysteem voor beluchting tot 70 procent van het energiegebruik voor zijn rekening. De schroefblowers uit de ZS+-serie van Atlas Copco worden als complete unit geleverd, inclusief variabele toerenregeling (VSD) om de luchttoevoer precies op de persluchtvraag van de klant af te stemmen, en de energierekening van deze continu opererende installaties aanzienlijk te verlagen.

In conventionele afvalwaterzuiveringsinstallaties voeden miljoenen bacteriën zich met organisch afval en breken dit af tot kooldioxide, stikstofgas en water. Omdat de bacteriën bij dit proces zuurstof verbruiken, worden grote hoeveelheden lucht in de beluchtingstanks geblazen. In een typische biologische afvalwaterzuiveringsinstallatie is het blowersysteem voor beluchting verantwoordelijk voor 70% van het energieverbruik.
