Atlas Copco Water for All Supports Relief Efforts in Kentucky
Atlas Copco’s North American chapter of Water for All has provided emergency funding to Can’d Aid to support the relief efforts in the aftermath of the deadly and devastating tornado which tore through Kentucky, and surrounding areas, over the weekend. As part of the relief effort, approximately 29,000 cans of clean water will be provided and distributed through volunteers at the Mayfield-Graves County Fairgrounds, coordinated through the Regional Emergency Operations Center. As a water boil order is in effect and will be for days and possibly weeks to come, the sanitized water cans support everyone from local families and institutions to first responders.
“The pictures on the news of the devastation in Kentucky has shocked us all,” said Aaron Prato, vice-president of Atlas Copco North America LLC. “Our thoughts and prayers go out to all those impacted and our employee-led Water for All program has moved quickly to support the local communities in their time of need.”
This is the tenth time, and the fifth time in 2021, Atlas Copco has partnered with Can’d Aid to support American communities faced with a short-term water crisis. The last donation was in September to support Hurricane Ida relief efforts in Louisiana. When a community is facing unclean drinking water conditions, Can’d Aid works to ensure fast, safe distribution of water to families in need. To date, Can’d Aid has donated more than 2 million cans of water throughout the U.S. and Puerto Rico.
Through the dedicated and passionate work of volunteering employees at Atlas Copco, Water for All funds projects all around the world, providing access to clean drinking water, sanitation and hygiene. For every dollar an employee donates, the company adds another two dollars, making a double match. The Atlas Copco U.S. Water for All chapter has donated over $2 million since its launch in 2010. Globally, since 1984 Water for All has supported millions of people across the world with clean drinking water.
