The brand-new handheld screw feeding system from Atlas Copco is a vital element to our Smart Connected Assembly concept, which is Atlas Copco’s vision for Industry 4.0. As manufacturing industries around the world continue to transform toward digitalization and interconnectivity, our new handheld screw feeding system is keeping pace, driving productivity and significantly increased uptime.
Read on to learn the top three reasons to use Atlas Copco’s all-new handheld screw feeding system!
But first, a quick system overview…
The handheld screw feeding system is a complete system with three components: The screw feeding tightening module, the step feeder, and a tightening controller such as the Power Focus 6000 (PF6000). Functions for all three components differ, but together they make one complete screw feeding system.
The tightening module loads the screw and performs the tightening itself. The step feeder stores, sorts, and separates the loaded screws before it blow-feeds the screws via a feeding tube. And finally, the connected Power Focus 6000 controller is tasked with controlling and monitoring the screw tightening and feeding process. The handheld screw feeding system is an automated solution that enables a major boost in productivity and product quality, among many other things.
Reason #1: Increased uptime and longer preventative maintenance intervals
Within the step feeder component of the handheld screw feeding system is a vertical wall design with a vibration motor attached. This vertical wall reduces the resonance effect of vibration in the feeder, which in turn increases stability and maintenance intervals while significantly reducing noise to the environment. The vertical wall design of the step feeder eliminates the need for dampening cushions, as all critical components and parts stay within tolerance of each other.
Reason #2: Quick and simple troubleshooting
The plug-and-play separator unit also found within the step feeder component of the all-new handheld screw feeding system enables advanced troubleshooting opportunities. The separator unit can be removed and exchanged without changing tolerances or requiring alignment. Further, this system comes equipped with quick change functions, which enables fast, simple bit changes using Atlas Copco’s high-quality bits.
Additionally, should an issue arise, our experienced Service Technicians have the know-how to assist customers in the support and maintenance of the entire handheld screw feeding system.
Reason #3: Easy to set up, install, and learn
The all-new handheld screw feeding system from Atlas Copco integrates with our PF6000 controller that many of our customers already know and appreciate. This makes for easy training and a familiar interface for your operators and plant personnel. With the handheld screw feeding system connected to the PF6000, no additional PLC is required and managing multiple Virtual Stations is now possible. The advanced tightening control feature of the PF6000 reduces cycle time, boosting plant productivity and uptime.
Further, the handheld screw feeding system is a turnkey solution. All components within the system are made by Atlas Copco; for the entire solution, you can count on communicating with one single supplier: Atlas Copco!
