PZB Stainless Steel: 20-40% More Efficient than Vane Motors

2 minute(s) to read

The piston air motor stands out in manufacturing for many reasons. Adding stainless steel plays a significant role in a multitude of manufacturing processes, and its adoption brings a wealth of benefits.

The piston air motor is energy efficient and offers unique low speed and high starting torque features. The main reason they’re so much more efficient is that piston air motors create much less friction than vane air motors. Naturally, the pistons move at much lower speed so it will be much easier to control the speed making it unnecessary to add a gear package.

Vane air motor

The PZB piston pneumatic motors offer a remarkable energy-saving advantage, consuming 20-40% less energy compared to vane pneumatic motors. With improved energy efficiency and an extended lifespan, choosing a PZB piston motor will contribute to the effective reduction of CO2 emissions while optimizing the operational process. This lubrication-free piston design also allows for an extended lifetime.

Another great benefit compared to other vane motor technology is the life between service intervals. The PZB has four to six times more operation hours before service than a regular air motor which results in a sizeable savings for customers. Usually the standard motor has 1,000 to 2,000 hours before service, whereas with a PZB, we recommend service before 6,000 hours.

In an era where environmental consciousness is crucial, a commitment to sustainability is not just a choice but a responsibility. Embracing sustainability is a pledge to safeguard our planet for future generations and create a harmonious balance between economic prosperity and environmental well-being. Atlas Copco’s PZB piston air motors are an example of the many practices across our company designed to reach our sustainability goals.

To sum it up

The PZB range of piston air motors are energy efficient and has unique low speed and high starting torque features, adding value in many applications. Its added sustainability benefits make them a more viable option compared to vane motors.
