Here’s how Atlas Copco's TBP pulse tool improves productivity and ergonomics

Process improvement with Atlas Copco's TBP: A success story

3 minute(s) to read

Process improvements can make a major impact on your productivity during production. As tools become smarter and easier to handle, manufacturing facilities become more efficient. This allows them to improve their productivity, quality, and more.

When a safety equipment manufacturer realized they needed a solution that would improve their process, they turned to Atlas Copco for a solution. Atlas Copco knew just what they needed: a TBP pulse tool in standalone mode. Read on to learn about how this company was able to improve their processes and ergonomics with Atlas Copco’s TBP pulse tool.

The low reaction TBP pulse tool: Granting more flexibility

In our customer’s operation, operators working on the plant floor had no other choice but to reach over their heads when working on their machines, making their process ergonomically unfriendly. Furthermore, their process was time-consuming, had no torque control, and had no operator feedback.

After understanding our customer’s dilemmas and analyzing their assembly processes, we were able to determine the best tool for them: Atlas Copco’s TBP pulse tool in standalone mode. The TBP is a battery-powered, low reaction hydraulic oil pulse tool with maximum flexibility and high torque capabilities. But that’s not it; we knew the TBP would benefit our customer because it easily connects to any device for quick programming, it can be used in multiple stations, and the tool has OK/NOK operator feedback.

The result

Since the implementation of Atlas Copco’s TBP pulse tool into our customer’s assembly, there have been no reported injuries at the station, in addition to a significant decrease in tact time, which increased the customer’s operational productivity. Operators are now spending as little as five minutes fastening all the bolts on each machine, rather than 25 minutes with their previous tooling solutions. Moreover, their total estimated ROI due to this investment is $45,000.

Why choose Atlas Copco?

Finding the perfect solution to meet your assembly needs is always our top priority. No matter the objective, our knowledgeable teams are dedicated to finding the right solution for you. In this customer’s case, we were able to find a smart, simple solution for them. With our solution, they were able to improve their productivity and ergonomics, significantly reducing the chances of workplace injuries. In the long run, these improvements will end up saving them thousands.
