But Atlas Copco has the solution: air motors. Powering productivity

The size, weight, and power load of a motor can make or break productivity in an operation. It makes sense that a more powerful tool would increase productivity, but when it weighs more to compensate for its power, then is it really a good choice? Heavy tools can put extra strain on operators to hold, especially in applications where the tool is used for long periods. That’s why it’s vital to choose tools that are both powerful and lightweight.

 

Air motors – as opposed to electric motors with the same power output – weigh only 1/4 as much and occupy only 1/6 of the space. Since air motors develop far more power in relation to their size and weight than most other electric motors, they can increase productivity, allowing operators to get more work done in the same amount of time.

Durability

In addition to choosing Atlas Copco air motors for their power-to-weight ratio, they are also very durable and won’t be affected by overload conditions. When electric motors become overloaded, they will need repair or replacement, the cost of which can really add up.

 

Furthermore, the performance of Atlas Copco air motors is not affected by start/stop conditions. In this way, our motors can last up to 3 or 4 times longer on average than electric motors. This is because electric motors are damaged by continuous starting and stopping. In cases of repeated starting and stopping of the motor, some components can break, requiring costly repairs or replacement of the device.

In addition, Atlas Copco air motors are equipped to perform in a wide range of industries. We offer stainless steel air motors with either a stainless steel exterior or both stainless steel interior and exterior. This makes our motors ideal for wet environments, like those found in the food industry where manufacturing plants must be regularly washed down. In addition, the stainless-steel construction makes our air motors more resistant to other chemicals. This guarantees minimal corrosion of components, eliminating the need for frequent maintenance and reducing the overall cost.
