A Journey of Transformation: Atlas Copco's Impact in Baluchistan's Cement Sector
Through collaborative efforts and innovative solutions, Atlas Copco is driving a transformative journey in Baluchistan's cement sector, revolutionizing industry standards and delivering unparalleled value to stakeholders.
Embarking on our journey, we, at Atlas Copco, were determined to initiate a significant transformation in the cement sector of Baluchistan. Our story highlights the power of our collaborations and the value we bring to our customers.
In the hot and tough conditions of Hub, Baluchistan, strength, and ruggedness are all that a customer wants. In an open environment with tough applications where dust and rocks are the destiny of any equipment, Atlas Copco brings out its A-game. Our tough machines have the strength to withstand any environmental conditions, exemplified by our quarry application for our customers.
In the cement industry, quarrying is the mining method to produce raw materials in the process of making cement. Quarrying describes the surface mining of rock, whereas 'open pit' mining describes the surface mining of minerals. Discontinuous mining systems such as scraping, ripping, dozing, and blasting are commonly practiced in limestone quarries. Blasting is the most widely used method to excavate limestone for cement production, as the rock is usually too hard to be ripped or dozed.
Our customer uses the Atlas Copco XAS186 for pneumatic crane moves and operates hammers, abrasive tools, and other cutting tools with air compressors in the forge workshop in the quarry. Currently, they also use the air compressor to drive the steam pump to improve efficiency.
Considering the above points and their application, in our first encounter with our customer operating in the cement sector in Hub, Baluchistan, we learned about the inadequacy of the used compressors in terms of cost-effectiveness. We were faced with challenges of high fuel consumption and low efficiency due to outdated engines.
To address these challenges, we proposed innovative solutions such as tier 4 and 5 engines aimed at initiating a transformation in the sector by reducing environmental footprint and providing long-term efficiency. Additionally, we developed customized long-term strategies for B-air due to the reduced usage of air compressors caused by hydraulic rigs. Customers in the cement segment are now looking for sustainable products that could reduce environmental impact and are pocket-friendly. Our proposal and the interest of the customer to use the B-air could be a breakthrough for the cement sector in accepting the advanced solutions that Atlas Copco has to offer, which not only reduces fuel costs and operational costs but also helps to meet the carbon footprint limitations of any industry.
Feedback from our customers emphasized the value of our contributions to this transformation. Our customer expressed that they would prioritize us for future purchases because of the variety we offer in engines, as well as our PACE technology, which provides multiple pressure options, enabling compressors to be used on single or multiple applications, something our competitors do not offer. This was a significant achievement for us and a testament to gaining the trust of our customers.
This transformational story in Baluchistan's cement sector reflects the power of Atlas Copco's innovative solutions and customer-centric approach. It goes beyond just a collaboration; it's a story of transformation and success.
