The Role
Product Company Indiana is a part of the Atlas Copco Industrial Vacuum Division, with the intent to become the undisputed market leader in highly engineered pumps and systems with world class delivery and customer responsiveness. The Aplications Engineer will be responsible for providing prompt and professional pricing and technical support to Sales and Marketing. The Applications Engineer reports to the Applications - Team Lead.
- Responds to internal and approved external customer inquiries related to product pricing and delivery.
- Assists in selection of the best product to meet the customer’s needs. May require calculations to appropriately size equipment.
- Provides first line technical support and documentation to internal and approved external customers for Atlas Copco products and their applications.
- Works with appropriate internal departments and suppliers to create price quote for non-standard products where list price is not readily available.
- Reviews specifications and prepares quotations taking special care to document all exceptions or clarifications.
- Analyze customer technical specifications and translate project requirements into costing and customer offer.
- Make initial product selections which meet the customer specifications
- Calculate pump capacity requirements based on process stream conditions (gas, liquid, temperature, etc.). Process stream may have gas mixes.
- Prepare technical proposals, including system design, cost estimation and lead times.
- Support sales team with technical support during offer phase
- Once order is received, conduct kick off meetings to hand over the project to Project Engineer
- Respond to internal and approved external customer inquiries related to product pricing and delivery.
- Work with appropriate internal departments and suppliers to create price quote for non-standard products where list price is not readily available.
- Revise specifications and prepare quotations taking special care to document all exceptions or clarifications.
- Coordinate order entry process as required.
- Interact with vendors concerning parts they supply (heat exchanger, centrifugal pumps, motors, couplings, valves, etc.)
- Assure profitability and process ability of all assigned projects and orders.
- Provide guidance and support to other applications engineers.
- Ability to provide leadership in absence of Application Team Lead.
- Responsible for personal development plan and implementation of same.

What we expect of you?
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Chemical, Mechanical or Industrial Engineering or other technical degree required; equivalent experience may be substituted.
- Three (3) years Sales/Engineering experience with pump manufacturer preferred

- Knowledge of various industry standards (HEI, ANSI, ISO, etc.) for pumps.
- Knowledge of welding and fabrication preferred.
- Knowledge of rotating equipment/drivetrain preferred.
- Ability to work with detailed specifications and industry standards.
- Understands financial aspects of optimizing profits.
- Proficiency in ERP systems and Microsoft Office.
- Knowledge of company product, customers and vendors (as acquired through experience) preferred.
- Understanding of competition in various markets and regions preferred.
