Youth, competencies, and ambitions; combine these three, and it will act as a catalyst for growth. It won't just drive society forward but also aid its wholesome development. The intent of contributing for the greater good of the community only grows strong with every initiative the Group supports.
Atlas Copco supported the Lighthouse program designed to empower underprivileged youth. The 1st Lighthouse is open in PCMC at Savitribai Phule Smarak, Pimpri, covering an area of approximately 2000 sq. ft. and is equipped with 4 training rooms, a community space, skilling equipment, desktops, WiFi, and a smart TV. It was launched on January 12th, 2022, in the presence of eminent dignitaries from the state government, as well as Mr. Kabeer Gaikwad, Head - Corporate HR Atlas Copco (India) Ltd., Mr. Abhijit Patil, CSR Manager, Atlas Copco (India) Ltd, and Ruchi Mathur CEO, Lighthouse Communities Foundation. It is set up under a unique PPP model. A program where the PCMC provides the location and capital assets, the Lighthouse Communities Foundation manages it, and all operational expenses are covered by Atlas Copco as a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility initiatives.
The Lighthouse is a sustainable livelihood program for the urban disadvantaged youth and aims at bringing social and economic transformation. The program aims at fostering workplace competencies and upskilling 600 youth from low-income communities and provide employment to over 300 youth from every year.
The majority of enrolments in the Lighthouse are of people aged 18-30 years coming from a vulnerable economic background, with about 60% of enrolments being women. The program encompasses of different stages such as creating awareness, bringing up the unique talent from the youth, foundational & vocational skilling, counseling, placement, and alumni.
