The Covid-19 pandemic has had a more profound impact on the socio-economic status of many people across the nation, especially in the rural belts and interior areas of the countryside. Beyond the immediate effects on health, the epidemic has claimed the livelihoods of many. Communities across Maharashtra in remote areas with low socio-economic conditions are struggling to meet their daily needs.
We believe it is crucial to extend assistance to economically vulnerable communities. This time, we partnered with the Centre for Youth Development & Activities (CYDA) & Yashwantrao Chavan School of Social Work to aid communities in the Satara district.
Through the Program of Dry Ration and Basic Necessity Kit Distribution, we reached out to economically challenged communities in the district's remote villages. People from these areas mostly work as daily wage laborers, and they are amongst the most vulnerable communities during COVID 19.
Program highlights:
- Benefited 1300 underprivileged and vulnerable households across 39 villages
- Reached out to remote villages of Satara district's Jaoli, Mahableshwar, and Wai blocks.
- This form of relief work was undertaken for the first time in these villages
At Atlas Copco, we believe in doing our bit for the planet and the communities we operate in. This program is one of our endeavors for reaching out to the underprivileged and aiding their survival.
