The second wave of Covid-19 has led to a surge in demand for supplemental oxygen, further creating an additional obstacle for the medical system and health ministry. In particular, there is a shortage in the number of oxygen-equipped beds available for COVID-19 patients at major government hospitals. However, patients who don't have critically low oxygen levels can be treated with oxygen concentrators.
An oxygen concentrator is yet another boon from the field of medical science for humankind that is battling with the Covid-19 pandemic. It is a medical device that generates oxygen from the ambient air, unlike the medically sourced oxygen stored in a cylinder. The device sources oxygen from the surrounding space, purifies it and produces oxygen for the patient. Also, the device can produce oxygen round the clock, and it is easy to move.
At Atlas Copco, we gauged the increasing demand for oxygen and the usefulness of oxygen concentrators. With our CSR arm, Atlas Copco Charitable Foundation (ACCF), and the NGO partner, IAHV, we pledged our support to Maharashtra Government's Health Ministry. Our teams at ACCF and IAHV commenced the operation of supplying the concentrators on a war footing. We delivered over 100 oxygen concentrators across 26 locations and 18 districts in Maharashtra in a record time. It is one of our most significant contributions made to government hospitals through Atlas Copco CSR initiative.
We are determined to be part of sustainable solutions that empower Covid-19 relief efforts, aid the healthcare infrastructure, and help save lives. At Atlas Copco, we are proud to be a part of humanitarian initiatives and humbled to be a constant contributor.
