Ventilators help to breathe by assisting the lungs in inhaling and exhaling air. Its primary function is to pump in blow oxygen-rich air into the lungs and assist in removing carbon dioxide. Before the Covid-19 pandemic outbreak, their role was mainly in ICUs rendering life support. But now, they have been essayed as crucial and essential life-saving devices that the world is in dire need of.
The second wave of the coronavirus pandemic overwhelmed the medical infrastructure in India and Pune along with its surrounding areas of PCMC (Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation). Pune, being the hotspot of the most active Covid-19 cases, the demand for the ventilator spiraled, leaving the ICU beds spread across corporation-run hospitals almost breathless.

In April 2021, the Atlas Copco Charitable Foundation, in partnership with our NGO partner, IAHV, has donated 50 Ventilators to support ICU facilities spread across corporation-run medical facilities in the PCMC region.
