Atlas Copco Egypt celebrating the Swedish National Day
Cairo, 6th June 2024 – The Embassy of Sweden in Cairo and the Swedish Business Community celebrated Sweden Day under The Theme “ABBA " highlighted the two historical events. The first one happened on June 6, 1523, when Gustav Vasa was elected King of Sweden, and the second was the approval of an important Constitution on this day in 1809. Both occasions are important milestones in the history of the kingdom and laid the foundation of Sweden as the modern European nation state it is today.The event was attended by Egyptian officials, the diplomatic community, politicians, civil society and Sweden’s friends and partners in Egypt.
The celebration featured a showcase by 20 Swedish companies in Egypt, presenting innovative products and services, allowing attendees to interact with experts, gain insights into Sweden's expertise, and explore collaborations, highlighting the valuable contributions of Swedish businesses to Egypt's economic development and fostering a stronger partnership between the two nations.
National Day celebrations were significant as 2024 marks the 50th anniversary of ABBA, the iconic Swedish pop group. ABBA gained worldwide fame after winning the Eurovision Song Contest with "Waterloo" in 1974, showcasing the role of culture in fostering dialogue. To celebrate, the Embassy of Sweden in Cairo hosted an event at the Ambassador's Residence on June 5, honoring ABBA, the Swedish music industry, and innovation
The Minister of Health and Population in Egypt, Dr. Khaled Abdel Ghaffar, was also attended by Dr. Ahmed El-Sobky, Chairman of the Egypt Healthcare Authority which highlighted Sweden's vital role in healthcare innovation and technology transfer during a recent celebration. This partnership focuses on preventive care, patient-centered approaches, and collaborative research projects to enhance both countries' healthcare systems. Opportunities for Egyptian-Swedish investments in infrastructure, human resources, and technology are being explored to support a more comprehensive healthcare framework.
