Webinar: Smart Connected Press

Date: Thursday, October 15th, 2020: 10:00 - 10:30 AM EST

Welcome to the Smart Connected Press webinar.

Presenting this webinar is Andy Neumann, our Fixtured Tool Product Specialist with over 30 years of industry experience. In this webinar, we’re exploring Smart Connected Press, a part of Smart Connected Assembly in pressing applications. Andy begins the webinar with a few facts and figures: 91% of industrial companies invest in the development of Smart factories. A 20% increase in productivity is possible through Smart factories. 66% of factories will rely on predictive maintenance in the future. Andy then goes into the Electric Servo Press system, which is the result of 147 years of experience. This Pressing system was built to exceed the toughest safety requirements. There’s no need for an additional safety PLC.

The Electric Servo Press system comes in two versions: straight and compact. The straight design provides 1% accuracy, has a new integrated brake, new cylindrical housing, and many more new features. The compact design version has many of the same features, including the planetary roller screw motor, and the QST spindle motor design. These systems are simple to integrate into your facility and only need one cable. Their high durability and 1% accuracy boost quality and productivity. The controller platform, PowerMACS 4000, supports FieldbusToolsNet 8, soft PLCs and more for I/O communication. In addition, pressing, tightening and gauging applications share a commonality with the PowerMACS 4000 platform.

In the final part of the webinar, Andy discusses the quality assurance aspect of pressing applications. He explains that our PST offers a full range of force load cells up to 500kN for the validation of press systems, automatic calibrations, process analyses for simplifying the transition from hydraulic systems to the PST solution, and more. Atlas Copco has five application centers strategically located around the world to develop and provide custom solutions to customers no matter where they reside. In all Application Centers are teams of technicians ready to support your pressing applications for service, maintenance, and repairs.
