Revolutionize your assembly processes with the innovative solution LRT PowerHEAD for cost-effective automation

If you've considered implementing collaborative robots, or cobots, but have been hindered by their limitations in high torque tightening applications with direct-driven tools, we have the answer.

Introducing the LRT PowerHEAD (LRT stands for low reaction tool), a game-changing development in product automation. Unlike traditional approaches, we've adopted a more agile methodology, actively involving our customers in the development process.

We initially created the LRT PowerHEAD and collaborated with early adopters to evaluate and enhance its performance. Our customers' valuable input has been instrumental in refining this concept, resulting in a powerful solution that is both cost-effective and reliable.

Addressing the challenge of high reaction forces encountered in tightening applications, where direct connection between the tool shaft and motor exists, the LRT PowerHEAD offers a practical and affordable solution. Compatible with most cobot manufacturers, it serves two main functions: securing the LRT tool to the cobot and enabling remote activation by the cobot or PLC.

Empowering even the smallest cobot models, the LRT PowerHEAD, in combination with an LRT tool, can handle torques of up to 150 Nm (110 ft lbs). The LRT range of high productivity pulse tools and nutrunners from Atlas Copco ensures minimal transmission of reaction force to the operator's hand, a characteristic shared by the LRT PowerHEAD, thereby enabling high torque levels on small cobots.

Integrated seamlessly into the Power Focus ecosystem, the PowerHEAD functions as a part of Atlas Copco's comprehensive tool control system. With its own virtual station in the Power Focus controller, the tool is fully controlled and managed within the system. Multiple virtual stations can be handled by a single controller, each corresponding to an LRT PowerHEAD and tool combination.

PowerHead

Two versions of the LRT PowerHEAD are available: one with interfaces for battery or power supply, and another with an integrated battery charger, drawing power from the cobot itself.

By harmonizing LRT PowerHEADs, LRT Tools, and Power Focus controllers, you can automate a wide range of tightening applications typically reliant on LRT battery or cable tools, such as those found in automotive plants. If you already have LRT Tools and Power Focus, integrating cobots becomes a straightforward enhancement.

Cobots offer increased ease of programming and cost-effectiveness compared to traditional robots, making them an ideal entry point into automation.
