Cold box is hot business for gas supplier in Brazil
Antwerp, Belgium, May 16, 2016 – One of the biggest suppliers of industrial and medical gases in the world needed to test all pipelines of their oxygen unit, the so called cold box, operating within a steel plant in the Northeast of Brazil.
The company had noticed our innovative approach during bench tests at a mutual customer. So when they were on the look-out for a partner in a similar project, they decided to contact Atlas Copco Rental Brazil.
After careful definition and planning of the project, the final design Atlas Copco Rental Brazil came up with consisted of
- 2 PNS 1250 compressors;
- 1 PHS 2400 adsorption dryer;
- 1 B7-42/2000 high pressure booster;
- some high pressure filters class 1;
- hoses;
in order to supply high pressure/ high flow oil-free air at 850 psi.
The welding quality manager supervising the project, manifested his appreciation by saying: “The service performed for the cold box pipelines pressure testing was very well planned with Atlas Copco Rental since May 2015! This was extremely important in order to reduce the impact of the pneumatic tests on site. All the problems were solved before the delivery of equipment in the field. The high quality equipment was fully compliant with the project specific operation requirements and delivery deadlines.”
He added: “I would like to highlight that the participation and monitoring by Atlas Copco Rental technician, handling the booster during all the process, was crucial to avoid problems in handling, assembling and operating the equipment.”
