Offshore Industry – ISSUE 5 – 2019. The Offshore industry can be characterised as a multidisciplinary sector, asking for a broad range of tools and services throughout the entire value chain. One of the challenges for the contractors, and for the subcontractors as well, is the fact that hardly any project is the same, each requiring a different kind of approach with different kinds of tools and equipment. Especially when looking at power requirements, this comes down to several key factors. During the preparation phase, we need to define the operational interfacing, for example. Do we need to lift equipment offshore? How much power is required throughout the project? Do we need backup systems? Do we need power distribution? Etcetera. After determining the scope of work, we consult our supplier Atlas Copco Rental and together we work out a detailed plan for the equipment needed, using their wide range of offshore equipment from their European Offshore Rental Fleet."
