Atlas Copco Compressors Proudly Supports Local H.O.P.E. Program

This summer, Atlas Copco Compressors is partnering with H.O.P.E. (Helping Other Progress through Education) for its knapsack initiative. H.O.P.E. is a charitable and educational organization whose mission is to educate, empower and support children and young adults in the Rock Hill community. In Rock Hill, South Carolina, a large percentage of school children qualify for free lunches, making the initiative a perfect fit for community needs. Through this partnership, area youth will receive over 1,300 meals packaged in knapsacks. The knapsacks are donated to children who qualify for free lunches during the school year, ensuring that children in need receive lunches when school isn’t in session. Atlas Copco employees gathered on July 18 for the first packaging session, and they will host the second packaging session on Thursday, July 25. All knapsack lunches will be delivered and distributed to the nearly 30 locations in Rock Hill that are supported by H.O.P.E. H.O.P.E. serves lunches to the children daily throughout the summer, requiring support from the local community. “The children will thoroughly enjoy the knapsacks you have given – it’s really made a difference,” expressed Tashica Thompson, founder of H.O.P.E. “I was ecstatic when I learned that Atlas Copco was stepping up to the table to help serve the children.” Molly Green, the Communications intern at Atlas Copco Compressors, felt a potential partnership between H.O.P.E. and Atlas Copco would be a great way for the company to continue to be closely involved with the local Rock Hill community, where it is headquartered. “Atlas Copco has an excellent reputation for helping others by creating efficient machinery, as well as starting their own internal organization over 30 years ago to address the global water crisis. The company was keen to continue to expand its local community work, and the entire organization immediately got behind the H.O.P.E. project! It was a great team effort to make and pack all the knapsacks,” added Green. In addition to the knapsack initiative, H.O.P.E. works to provide necessities to school-aged children in York County in order to supply them with the proper tools they need to succeed in school. The organization further helps underprivileged young adults in the college-search process, from completing applications to finding financial aid and preparing for college life.
