Air blower technologies for the water and wastewater sector
Atlas Copco provides full scope of air blower technologies for the UK water and wastewater sector. From advanced, oil-free rotary screw designs and cost-effective tri-lobe VSD units through to low-pressure centrifugal machines – all are designed to enable water and wastewater companies to reduce energy costs and boost productivity.
Equipment for this sector includes the compact ZS4 VSD+ oil-free, low pressure, rotary screw blowers. A fully integrated, in-house designed Neos inverter to optimise air flow, in tandem with the blower’s iPM drive motor, ensures the ZS4’s performance is the most energy-efficient - even when running at partial load.
Mark Ranger, Business Line Manager for Oil-Free Air at Atlas Copco UK commented: “Clean water and waste water treatment plants stand to benefit from adopting the latest innovations in air blower technology. A recent case study with Scottish Water proves this: who achieved annual energy savings of 25% at the Nigg wastewater treatment works after replacing all their traditional roots-type blowers with Atlas Copco ZS rotary screw machines to ensure continuous, uninterrupted operations with reduced maintenance.”
Wastewater plants can also take advantage of the ZL1 VSD low-pressure, plug-and-play, tri-lobe blower that has been developed for round the clock operation in the harshest of environments. Available in a variety of configurations, the ZL1 blower offers the choice of a purely mechanical unit, wth a dial gauge for pressure readings, or a high-end solution with integral VSD inverter and Elektronikon® controller.
Atlas Copco also offers the ZB range of oil-free centrifugal blowers, which has a frictionless drive design and delivers constant air flow, optimum air volume and energy savings.
Completing Atlas Copco’s offering for the water industry is a skid package comprising a rotary screw compressor together with a dessicant dryer. The unit is designed to provide dry air for instrumentation and is ideal for both wastewater and clean water treatment applications. With onboard condensate filtration, the skid unit is fully compliant with environmental regulations.
