The reason we are expanding our portfolio is because in the recent past, while renting compressors we discovered the need of steam amongst our customers, however there were no solutions available in steam rental. The customers were benefitting of the variable solutions which we were providing for compressed air, time and again they were requesting for similar agile and variable solutions in steam.

1. What inspired Atlas Copco Rental to start offering steam boiler rentals?
In the current market scenario, we realized various applications that require temporary steam for specific time periods, such as during planned maintenance, annual maintenance, and overhauls. Currently, there are very limited resources available in the market to meet such requirements of our customers. Atlas Copco Specialty Rental has got global expertise and competency to solve complex demands, and sees this as a significant market opportunity to serve our customers better. With industries strongly inclining towards outsourcing and subscription based business models, making this the right time and choice to start steam on rent in India.
2. How does the rental model work for your steam boilers?
Stage 1: Requirement
It all begins with our customers’ requirement , depending on the industry and their enterprise size. So if they need a steam boiler, the process begins at this point to understand what exactly is expected from Atlas Copco Specialty Rental.
Stage 2: Understanding
Most of the requirements fall under one of the two categories – Either it is an emergency, or a planned project. If it is an emergency, we dispatch machines right away. This helps our customers continue according to their plan and they zero to lesser downtime. If it is a planned project, we visit the client and discuss the prospect in detail. This is where we also share the technical proposal for us to get to the next stage.
Stage 3: Proposal & Design
Basis our understanding of the requirement, we create a proposal of the entire end-to-end project. Once we get an approval on our proposal, we design the required equipment accordingly. These solutions are made-to-measure by our expertise, complete with all the necessary certifications and permissions.
Stage 4: Delivery and Installation
With the widest network across the country, we help the client with our local presence, backed by the international expertise, to make sure the installation is set-up on the proposed delivery date and time. The complete installation includes all the requested units and accessories, which helps the clients to deliver on time and even plan ahead.
Stage 5: Quality and Expertise

3. What industries or applications are most suited for renting steam boilers?
Every industry requires temporary steam during contingencies and breakdowns:
- F&B – Steam for cooking, sterilization and cleaning
- Pharma – Steam is used for sterilization of equipment, autoclaves, reactors, fermentation processes, and in the heating of clean-in-place (CIP) systems.
