Atlas Copco Ireland welcomes its first IPPD Reverse Program candidate
Simon Van Rompaey is the first person to undertake the IPPD Reverse Program at Atlas Copco Ireland. Simon will be here for three months. We spoke to Simon about his experience so far.
What is the IPPD Reverse Program?
We have two sister programs. The first one is where people from all the different customer centers from all over the world have the chance to work at one of our manufacturing facilities and the IPPD Reverse program is the opposite of that. This program gives employees from the factory in Belgium the opportunity to broaden their experience in customer-facing environments.
What inspired you to take on the program?
We received an email explaining the program with a proposal for a few projects and I thought it would be an interesting experience! I had only ever worked at one of our other manufacturing facilities and while I sometimes went on field visits, it is not the same as seeing what it is like in a different country.
I hope to get a good feel of the operational side of the company
How would you describe your first few weeks at Atlas Copco in Dublin? How does it compare with home?
It is certainly a bit colder! It is nice so far and everyone is friendly. There’s a nice atmosphere where everybody talks to each other so that’s good.
What do you hope to achieve over the next 3 months?
I hope to get a good feel of the operational side of the company to bring back to my own job in service. I also want to travel Ireland as it is such a beautiful country!
