Dust-free pneumatic solution for quarrying
Quarrying high-quality natural stones requires safe, top-quality equipment. “Global Stones”’ has been partnering up with Atlas Copco for its quarry in Huligeri, India, which has been in operation for almost 20 years. What sets this company apart is not only its focus on quality, but also on the concern for the health and safety of its employees.
Global Stones has a full Atlas Copco portfolio with compressed air, pneumatic handheld tools and a dust collector. This dust collector, a DCP 30, vacuums away dust at the tool tip of up to 3 handheld tools. A dust collector works on compressed air and protects the tool operator against harmful particles such as silica dust.
The silica in the ground can cause silicosis, a respiratory disease. With a DCP we protect our operators against these harmful particles and at the same time, we also prolong the lifetime of the compressor
Dust-free breaking and drilling
Because the operators aren’t the only ones appreciating the removal of stone dust: the compressor does too. Although Atlas Copco’s mobile compressors have air inlet filters, the ingress of fine particles deteriorates the lifetime of the filters and the engine. A dust collector catches the dust directly at the tool tip and makes use of compressed air to vacuum the dust away and store it in a bag.
“The DCP 30 works on compressed air, but it requires just a little bit of flow, so it does not affect our production output at all,” comments Balan. One compressor gives enough air to power 4 jackhammers at the same time. Global Stones uses only 3 rock drills and has a spare valve for the dust collector. All the equipment is designed to fit and work well together. Working well together, that is exactly what Global Stones liks about Atlas Copco. Balan: “Atlas Copco is a sustainable company; They also have the safety of our pneumatic tool operators in mind. And they offer good service to customers like us”.
