Optimizing Industrial Energy Use: Insights from the 4th EEC Meeting
December 4, 2024
Atlas Copco Services Middle East recently participated in the 4th Energy Efficiency Club (EEC) meeting, hosted by Emirates Float Glass. This gathering focused on best practices for energy optimization and highlighted the Energy Saving Cycle for compressed air systems. Organized by Abu Dhabi Distribution Company (ADDC), a subsidiary of TAQA (Abu Dhabi National Energy Company), the EEC serves as a platform to promote energy efficiency and sustainability within the industrial sector.
As a leading energy distributor, ADDC is committed to fostering awareness of energy-efficient practices. The EEC provides companies with opportunities to share insights, expertise, and innovative solutions aimed at reducing energy costs, lowering carbon footprints, and enhancing operational efficiency.
Hear from Mr. Imad A. A. Abuyousef from ADDC on the vision of the EEC
Held at Emirates Float Glass’s facility, the meeting brought together energy professionals from 14 industrial companies across Abu Dhabi and Dubai. Emirates Float Glass, a pioneer in energy-efficient glass manufacturing, reinforced its dedication to sustainability by hosting this event, facilitating discussions, and knowledge-sharing sessions among attendees to further EEC goals and extend its impact.
Listen to Ms. Sandya Pai and Mr. Sibi Augustine discuss the role of Emirates Float Glass in the EEC
Guest speaker Sandip Pawar, Regional Optimization Manager from Atlas Copco, presented on the optimization of compressed air systems through a three-step Energy Saving Cycle: Analyze, Optimize, and Monitor. This approach, emphasizing the most energy-efficient solutions, enables industrial companies to reduce costs, achieve Science-Based Targets initiative (SBTi) objectives, and improve overall sustainability. Lien Thomas, Product Marketing Specialist, also demonstrated the significant role of SMARTLINK in driving energy savings and monitoring performance in real time.
Sufyan Lone, Product Marketing Manager for Oil-Free Air, introduced the latest advancements in compressor technology, such as Variable Speed Drive (VSD) oil-free air compressors and heat-of-compression rotary drum air dryers. These innovations support industries in accessing high-quality compressed air at the lowest total cost of ownership.
With energy consumption forming 76% of a compressor's total cost of ownership (TCO), focusing on efficiency not only reduces operational expenses but also significantly impacts environmental sustainability. If you cannot measure it, you cannot improve it, measuring baseline of your compressed air energy, efficiency, patterns of operations are key critical to improve from baseline. Let our expert get to work and unlock the saving potential of your full compressed air system.
During the best practices sharing session, one participant shared his experience and feedback on using SMARTLINK technology to improve compressor efficiency. He highlighted how SMARTLINK’s real-time monitoring and data analytics capabilities have significantly enhanced their maintenance processes.
Listen to Mr. Affan share his experience with SMARTLINK
The 4th Energy Efficiency Club was a significant step towards fostering collaboration and innovation in energy management within the industrial sector. Atlas Copco’s participation highlighted the importance of optimizing compressed air systems. By sharing cutting-edge technologies and best practices, Atlas Copco continues to support industries in achieving meaningful energy savings and advancing their sustainability objectives.
