Atlas Copco Rental to the rescue for urgent pyrolytic cleaning of the furnace at Raffinerie Heide GmbH
8 Νοεμβρίου 2018
Sudden shutdown creates urgent need for compressed air at Raffinerie Heide GmbH Five oil-free air compressors delivered in less than 4 hours to remove coke from furnace.
Hemmingstedt: On a Friday at 11:30 am, Atlas Copco Rental received a call from Raffinerie Heide GmbH, requesting that five PTS 1600 compressors be delivered as soon as possible. Within three and a half hours, Atlas Copco Rental was able to load three trucks with five PTS 1600 compressors, travel 115 km to deliver them to Hemmingstedt and quickly ensure put them into operation.
What had happened:
The unexpected shutdown of a neighboring piece of equipment necessitated the unscheduled decoking of a pyrolysis cracking furnace in the refinery. Over five days, an air flow of up to 12000 m³/h and a working pressure of 9.5 bar (g) had to be established as soon as possible.
In a pyrolysis cracking furnace, naphtha, gas oils and hydrocracker deposits are converted into ethylene, propylene and useful by-products by means of steam cracking. The process causes a layer of coke to form in the cracking furnace. This coke is then burned off by the controlled addition of air and steam.
Normally, the pyrolysis furnace is decoked during a planned shutdown, which Raffinerie Heide carries out every eight to ten weeks. Of course, Atlas Copco Rental provides the necessary compressed air supply for this.
In addition to the broad and varied range of products on offer, Atlas Copco Rental has impressed us above all with their excellent response rate, the technical knowledge of their staff and the high availability of rental products. We have therefore relied on Atlas Copco Rental for more than ten years and are pleased to have them by our side as a partner.
