Complete power solution for new BIO4 central

Atlas Copco Rental supports HOFOR with back-up solution for temporary power
HOFOR, Denmark’s largest utility company, is building a BIO4 power plant in Copenhagen. HOFOR wants to create sustainable towns and cities, and with the new BIO4 power plant, the aim is that Copenhagen will become the first capital city in the world to be CO2 neutral. Annually, this installation will use up to 1.2 million tons of sustainable wood chips in a CFB (circulating fluidized bed) boiler for the production of electricity. For this process, the BIO4 plant will receive about 350 ships with wood chips, annually, and two new cranes will be operating to load these wood chips 24 hours a day.
Temporary, efficient power need
Due to unforeseen circumstances, the delivery of the transformers for the crane was delayed, so HOFOR needed to find a temporary solution. Waiting for the delivery of the transformers, HOFOR needed to ensure electricity supply to have the cranes operational to guarantee a constant loading of the wood chips.
They contacted Atlas Copco Rental Denmark, whose rental engineers designed a complete solution. This included a fuel efficient 1250-kVA diesel generator (400V) connected with a 2500-kVA transformer that converts and supplies the cranes with 10 kV voltage.
Atlas Copco Rental Denmark did not only offer industry leading rental equipment (diesel generators and accessories), but also provided a complete solution to HOFOR: everything, from consulting and design to commissioning, from startup to service and 24/7 support, was covered from start to finish (that is during 3 month for this project) by Atlas Copco Rental experts.
We have a lot of experience in the renewables industry so we knew how to handle this request when HOFOR contacted us. We were able to deliver the perfect solution right away and according to all HOFOR’s needs
