How a woodworking operation upgraded with Atlas Copco VSD compressor?

Gorainvest AD is a company specialized in the woodworking industry. Founded in 1998 in Ruse as a small family company, today it is a leader in its industry in Northeastern Bulgaria. About 106 people are employed in the production of solid wood panels and furniture components in two factories: in Ruse (built-up area 8000 m2) and in Kubrat (built-up area 30,000 m2). All production lines for sawing wood, for the production of panels, etc. in both factories have a pneumatic part requiring compressed air.
During our first meeting with Gorainvest AD, we realized that at the moment they do not need to buy a new compressor. It did not take long to organize a second meeting with them, during which we learned that since the establishment of the company they are loyal to another supplier of compressor equipment and are satisfied with their quality and service. And here comes the question - how to win the loyalty of the customer to our side?
At Atlas Copco we believe that knowledge is power and that we may not know the exact challenge that our customers face, but we are committed to providing them with the knowledge and resources to help them tackle it. This was the engine of our decision to invite Gorainvest as a guest at the organized seminar in Ruse "Increasing the efficiency of the compressor room with Atlas Copco VSD compressor". With subsequent positive feedback from the seminar, Mr. Novakov expressed a desire to organize a measurement of the compressor, which showed that it is oversized / 30 kW / and with great potential for optimization. After the provided results from the measurements and the offer for a compressor with VSD + technology, we agreed with the client the best conditions for acquiring the equipment.
The combination of reliability and economy in compressor operation was profitable in the customer's choice.
Compressed air plays a very important role in our production, so we wanted a compressor we could count on. The Atlas Copco compressor produces the right amount of air, as much as it’s needed, without working at full speed constantly.
The recommended model Atlas Copco GA18VSD + P screw compressor precisely meets the requirements for variable consumption of compressed air, which reduces energy consumption because compressed air is produced as needed. In comparison, the old compressor was running at full load and consumed 46% more electricity than the Atlas Copco GA18VSD + P.
"With the new Atlas Copco GA18VSD compressor, we have reduced our electricity costs by 2,840 kWh per month and annual operating costs by 42%," added Mr. Rosen Novakov.
